ANAHEIM, CA Protos Foods has introduced OSTRIM Ostrich Sauté, a delicious all-natural, pre-cooked gourmet meal that heats in a microwave in just two minutes or in boiling water in about five minutes.

This nutritionally well-balanced meal was unveiled to nearly 30,000 natural product retailers and distributors attending the Natural Products Expo West at the Anaheim Convention Center March 12-14, 1999.

This fully cooked, ready-to-serve, shelf-stable (no refrigeration required) meal is made with naturally raised ostrich, one of nature’s healthiest low-fat, low-cholesterol meats. It is sautéed with vegetables and served on a bed of brown rice in a tantalizing teriyaki sauce. The OSTRIM Ostrich Sauté has 27g of protein (54% of Daily Value, based on a 2,000 calorie diet), with only 6g of fat and 360 calories.

Advanced retort cooking technology preserves the flavor and nutrients, while producing a ready-to-heat and serve meal that needs no prior refrigeration. A combination of airtight packaging with breakthrough heat processing creates a shelf-stable meal that can be stored at room temperature for a minimum of one year. The OSTRIM Ostrich Sauté utilizes no irradiation and no added preservatives in the cooking process.
